Ironmen roll to blowout win after three-week layoff.
MUSKEGON — The West Michigan Ironmen hadn’t played a game in three weeks, but one would not have known the difference in Sunday afternoon’s 62-0 arena football victory over the visiting Kentuckiana Kurse.
On “Youth Sports Day,” the Ironmen scored early, late and plenty of times in between at Trinity Health Arena. With the lopsided victory, they improve to 3-1 on the season.
CatchMark SportsNet, in conjunction with Promotional Communications Network, livestreamed the game. You may watch the replay for free now by clicking on the video at the top of this story.
Veteran quarterback Alex Carder tossed six touchdown passes for the Ironmen, four of them to rookie receiver Sterling Alexander, to highlight the offense.
Defensively, the Ironmen notched a pair of pick-6s in the second half on their way to pitching the shutout. Ryheem Stokes return an interception 37 yards for a TD, followed by Ryan Williams’ pick and 23-yard return.
The Ironmen’s next scheduled game is Saturday night, June 4, at home against an opponent to be finalized. Head coach/general manager Nate Smith said the opponent could possibly be the Carolina Predators.
